🔴 Breaking: Daylight Robbery in Pune – Friend Turns Criminal

In a shocking turn of events, a ₹40 lakh cash robbery in Pune has turned into one of the most talked-about crime stories of the year. What seemed like a random act of theft revealed an unexpected betrayal when the mastermind turned out to be none other than the victim’s own friend.

📍 The Incident: What Happened on July 15?

Businessman Abhijit Vishnu Pawar, a steel supplier from Dharashiv, arrived in Pune with ₹40 lakh in cash to complete a business transaction. He was accompanied by his long-time friend Mangesh Dhone, whom he trusted deeply. As Dhone headed toward Excella Plaza with the bag, a black Thar SUV approached. Three men jumped out, assaulted Pawar, and fled with the cash bag in broad daylight.

⚠️ Inside Job Revealed: Betrayal by a Trusted Friend

Within 24 hours, Ambegaon Police solved the mystery. It turned out that Mangesh Dhone, the very friend trusted with the money, had orchestrated the entire robbery. He not only planned the route and escape plan but also included a minor from Bhugaon as an accomplice.

The gang used the Thar SUV as part of the plan, and Dhone pretended to be a victim, misleading even the initial police investigation.

🔍 Investigation & Arrests

  • Police recovered ₹9.35 lakh in cash.
  • Two adult suspects and one minor were arrested.
  • More suspects are believed to be on the run.
  • CCTV footage and mobile surveillance were critical in cracking the case.

🚓 Role of Police: Swift Action, Solid Work

Led by DCP Milind Mohite and Senior Inspector Sharad Zine, the police team acted fast. The case was cracked within 24 hours, saving further loss and potentially bigger crimes.

🧠 Crime Psychology: When Greed Overtakes Trust

This case highlights how financial greed can destroy relationships. Mangesh Dhone, blinded by money, used his friend’s trust against him. Involving a minor shows how crime now exploits even vulnerable teens.

🔒 What This Means for You: Stay Alert!

  • Never carry large amounts of cash—use digital transfers when possible.
  • Do not trust a single individual blindly, especially in financial matters.
  • Involve multiple stakeholders in business transactions for safety.
  • Always inform family or contacts when traveling with money.
