As per official Japanese records, Netaji boarded a Japanese military aircraft from Saigon to Manchuria via Taiwan. After his death, a government inquiry found INA medals, Bose’s photographs, letters, and books.
Despite handwriting analysis and testimonies, the DNA tests remained inconclusive, keeping the mystery alive.

- Shah Nawaz Committee (1956): Declared Bose died in a plane crash. Critics say the inquiry lacked depth and transparency.
- Khosla Commission (1970): Supported plane crash theory but didn't examine alternative views seriously.
- Mukherjee Commission (1999-2005): Rejected the plane crash theory outright. However, the government dismissed its findings without explanation.
